Creating Strong Dance Films

Screen dance Course is a virtual, introductory course for dance/movement and film artists interested in making dance for the screen. Participants will learn the theory and practice of making screen dance in addition to delving into the history of the genre. It is designed to support participants in how they approach, capture and situate their work.

Participants will view notable screen dances, explore creating movement specific for the frame and how to create meaningful dance through the use of film techniques including shooting, editing, storyboarding, improvisation and more. Participants will also receive on on one mentoring as requested. There are no equipment requirements.

A small group format introduction course on grants for artists individual and companies that will cover the basic terminology, organizing strategies, how to look for grants, how to prepare files and what to plan for contracting and grant post reports. We will cover residencies, sponsorships, local city and government grants and foundation grants
